Equity Line
Home Equity Lines are granted for a variety of reasons including home repairs, improvements and business investments. In most cases a first mortgage will exist on the home serving as collateral. The value of the home should be considerably in excess of the first mortgage balance. The difference between the market value of the home and the first mortgage balance is the customer's equity in the home. The loan amount may not necessarily be equivalent to said equity.
