Ocean Bank's Contribution Helps Hundreds Waiting For Home Delivery Meals Program

The local bank donates $15,000 to Little Havana
Activities and Nutrition Centers of Dade County

Miami, Florida - March 21, 2007 - Ocean Bank recently donated $15,000 to the Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Centers of Dade County Inc., an organization dedicated to provide social services to economically disadvantaged individuals residing in the Little Havana area. This contribution will be especially designated to the Center's home delivery meals program for which there is currently a waiting list of 800 elderly applicants.

José A. Concepción, President and C.E.O. of Ocean Bank presented the donation to Ramón Pérez-Dörrbecker, President and C.E.O. of the Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Center during a recent meeting held at the Bank’s main office.

"We are pleased to make this contribution to the Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Center, an organization that really makes a difference in the lives of elderly residents and needy people in the Little Havana area," said Concepción. "For many years, we have partnered with the Center because we acknowledge that it plays an important role in the daily lives of seniors who visit the center for meals and activities."

"We are sincerely grateful for Ocean Bank’s contribution to the Center. Thanks to the Bank’s support, we will be able to deliver meals to hundreds of seniors who are currently on a waiting list,” said Pérez-Dörrbecker. “Many of the elderly in Little Havana wouldn’t otherwise have access to good nutrition,” he added.

Founded in 1973, Little Havana Activities and Nutrition Center has become one of the largest health, nutrition and social services agencies in the country, serving over 70,000 people in South Florida with 21 multi-services programs. Most of their funding comes from government grants, the United Way, private donations and fundraising events. They have received numerous awards for their work, including the prestigious "Access to Health Award.'
