Ocean Bank was built on the premise that our
communities would be our most lucrative asset,
that the future and dreams of South Florida's
residents and visitors could be strengthened
and improved through the Bank's involvement.
It
is for this reason that each year Ocean Bank
and its employees renew their commitment to
give back to our communities. We contribute
funds, time and personal effort to projects
that benefit the people in our communities,
thus helping South Florida grow and flourish.
We can proudly state that Ocean Bank is a
leader in community involvement and corporate
giving. Proof of its dedication is the Bank's
unwavering support of local organizations
that work hard to help those who are most
in need. We have formed strategic alliances
with community and business organizations
that are truly making an impact in
South Florida.
As a strong supporter of education, Ocean
Bank contributes annual funding to a number
of worthwhile educational initiatives in our
communities. One of our most important achievements
is our 16-year partnership with the Education
Fund in the establishment of the Ocean Bank
Center for Educational Materials (OBCEM) in
1993. The OBCEM provides Miami-Dade County
Public Schools teachers with free year-round
access to surplus materials, supplies, equipment
and furniture donated by area businesses.
The Bank also committed a $1 million contribution
to the Florida International University College
of Business Administration (CBA). These funds
were used to build the auditorium in the CBA's
new building complex and is the largest single
donation made by Ocean Bank to date. This
donation reinforces Ocean Bank's commitment
to supporting education within the local community.
In recognition of this gift,
the auditorium was named in honor of Ocean
Bank.
Each year, Ocean Bank also contributes substantial
funds to the United Negro College Fund, Florida
Memorial University and the Alex Rodríguez Educational
Center at the Boys and Girls Club of Miami.
All these efforts are in support of the education
of the youth of South Florida's communities.
In addition, Ocean Bank is a supporter of
the United Way of Miami Dade County, the March
of Dimes, the League Against Cancer, the Jackson
Memorial Foundation, the Miami Rescue Mission,
Camillus House, and many other such organizations.
Ocean Bank has been repeatedly recognized
for its outstanding effort in enhancing the
quality of life of our citizens. The Bank
received the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce
"Top Hispanic Business Community Involvement
Award" in 1995, 2000 and 2002; the "2002
Beacon Award" in the area of financial
services from the Beacon Council, and the
"Building our Community" award from
the March of Dimes in 2002. It was also the
recipient of the "Commissioner's Business
Recognition Award" from the Florida Department
of Education in 1997 and 2003.
As a true local Bank deeply rooted in our
community, it is Ocean Bank's goal to make
a difference in the lives of people; the people
who work at Ocean Bank, the people who bank
with us, and the people who rely on our support.
Ocean Bank is committed to improving the quality
of life in South Florida and considers itself
to be an integral part of Florida's future
as it continues to build and develop its communities.
